The Insertion

Lately, Avery has been somewhat enamored with her nose. More often than not, walking around with her finger jammed inside it. I'm sure it's exploratory and darned if not something she learned from her friends at daycare.
Interestingly, the other day at breakfast, Jimmy and I were casual observers to the waffle insertion. We couldn't really believe what was happening and watched it all unfold as if in slow motion.
She tore off a piece of her toasted chocolate chip waffle and proceeded to slowly insert it into her right nose hole. Did we try to stop her? No. She would have? Probably. Did we laugh? Yes, until...
Yep, she managed it stick it in and push it in even further with her finger. So much so, that there was no way I would have been able to get it out, short of running for the tweezers.
Then, guess who started freakin' out. We tried the thrust technique, encouraging her to blow air through her nose (she very good at blowing for the tissue, so we know she could do it). This only resulted in a slow whistle. Who is laughing uncontrollably, while also thinking about the trip to Urgent Care?
Fortunately, all the sniffing and air blowing caused a big sneeze. And what came but a flying out? Yep, a little piece of waffle and then some.
We look forward to the peas and eventual marble.
